Bf-109E

OK – I fibbed! The first project for 2022 isn’t going to be the Trener – it’ll be Eduard’s 1:48 Bf 109E-4.

Whereas Mal Mayfield always says you can’t have too many Spitfires, for me the ‘109 is always something of a modelling “comfort zone”. So, in need of inspiration to get the New Year underway, there was always ever really going to be one candidate…

  1. Rowan,
What happened to the Eduard Zero?
I’ll be thrilled to read that you’ve actually started the Eduard Me 109e, but then i read that you’ve signed up for an electric Bass online tutoring.
I only go to Aeroscale these days to check out Torsten’s builds, so I was surprised to read your comment of all hell breaking loose? So what happened this time?

    1. Hi Joel

Thanks for looking in. The Zero’s actually at a pretty good point, with a load of sub-assemblies ready for basic painting, but I couldn’t resist the siren call of the “Emil”. 😉 (I probably will throw a bit of paint at the Zero too while I work on the ‘109.)

Yeah – bass! Who’d have thunk it!? LOL! But I listen to my bass parts on solo recordings and they really aren’t good, so I decided it’s time to try to do something about it.

I wouldn’t say it was all hell breaking loose, so much as simply misguided (but undoubtedly well-intended) moderating, so I decided to move on. I’ll still post news, reviews and features, but I can’t get on with the new-style forum, so it’s probably a good time to step away anyway.

      All the best

  2. I shall be following this Rowan.
Lets hope its a speedy build as you must know these kits inside and out by now.
    Andy 🙂

    1. Hi Andy

You know me – I can take ages on what should be the speediest of builds! LOL! But it would be nice to keep the momentum high on this one. I aim to post some photos tomorrow ahead of starting painting.

It’s a good few years since I built one of Eduard’s Emils – but, revisiting it, I’ve been struck by just how much it influenced Special Hobby’s great little 1:72 kit. The collaboration between the two companies certainly paid off.

      All the best

      Rowan
