Darn that modelling itch!

Any experienced modeller will know the situation – you come across a subject that you never even knew existed, and suddenly you want (or rather, “need”) to buy a new kit!

In this case the “itch that needs scratching” was started by Iliad Design very kindly sending me a sample of their new decals for T-38C Talons sporting commemorative paint-jobs as a nod to WWII and Vietnam-era aircraft. I’m always a sucker for trainer aircraft but, somehow, I’ve always overlooked the T-38.

Iliad’s decals are superb as always and you can catch my review of them over on Aeroscale.

Hmmm… the T-38 Talon! Now I think I need to fill that gap in my collection and get a Wolfpack 1:48 kit to go with the decals!

  1. Hi,
The bottom two schemes are nice, but the Talon just doesn’t float my boat at all.
I know what you mean about “needing” a kit, whilst building and reading about the Tornado GR.1 in Desert Storm, I really fancy buying a Jaguar and a Buccaneer to complete the three main strike aircraft in that conflict.
    Andy 🙂

  2. Hi Andy

The Talon is borderline on definition of “classic jets”, but I guess my interest in it goes back to following NASA launches and seeing the astronauts often flying T-38s. Plus, it reminds me of Airfix’s 1:72 Freedom Fighter back in the ’60s! 🙂

I’ve still got an Airfix 1:48 Desert Storm Buccaneer stashed away somewhere that I bought to support a local model shop that was struggling after a burglary years ago. I wasn’t particularly interested in it, but it was a case of all the regular customers buying whatever was left on the shelves to help the owner.
