I’ve shunned Chinese kits for some time – originally out of concerns over plagiarism (and basic accuracy in many cases), but more importantly since the oppression of the Uyghurs – but the Russian invasion of Ukraine has brought things to our doorstep in Europe and underlined some tough decisions I face as a modeller. I’ve been unequivocal in my support of Dora Wings (a Ukrainian company), but what about the friends I’ve made over the years based in Russia? They’re not responsible for the decisions of the maniac in charge at the Kremlin – but the sanctions against Russia would mean nothing if we undermined them on a personal basis. So, it pains me to say this, but I can’t knowingly cover any Russian-produced kits or accessories with a clear conscience until Russia withdraws from Ukraine and a just peace is restored.
