Vultee Vengeance

I was still coming to terms with the dreadful news from Ukraine this morning, when the doorbell rang. With almost grotesque timing, Royal Mail delivered a package from Dora Wings – posted while there was still hope of peace. I don’t think the arrival of a sample has ever been such a poignant and bittersweet […]

Early ‘109

This could be fun! I’m always a sucker for a ‘109, but I missed the 1:48 Dora Wings kit of the early variants when it was released and it’s no longer in their catalogue. A visit to https://www.scalemodelshop.co.uk  this evening showed they still have it in stock, so I snapped one up! It’ll probably be

Emil underway

Hi again As promised, a few pics of things getting underway on the Emil. The only minor moulding problems I’ve found are shallow sink marks on the wings at the tips and over the undercarriage attachments. Bf-109E

OK – I fibbed! The first project for 2022 isn’t going to be the Trener – it’ll be Eduard’s 1:48 Bf 109E-4. Whereas Mal Mayfield always says you can’t have too many Spitfires, for me the ‘109 is always something of a modelling “comfort zone”. So, in need of inspiration to get the New Year

And the principles in this video transfer seamlessly

Z-226 Trener

First new project of 2022. I’m busy getting my review of Eduard’s new 1:48 Z-226 ready for Aeroscale and it’s just screaming “Build me!”. It could hardly be more different that the type of aircraft kit I usually tackle, so that probably makes it ideal for Noisy Models – which is all about ditching old

The power of the dark side…

I’m very impressed with the little @orangeamplifiers Micro Dark! It’s a really useful addition to my “tone arsenal”. Much to my surprise (and contrary to some of the YouTube videos I’ve watched) the sound via the headphones output into my DAW is definitely usable – especially with single-coil pickups. Ironically, though, for actually listening direct
