I always find masses to learn from Eric Haugen’s YouTube videos, and today’s was a classic example. Targeted on playing to fit in and around other member of a band, Eric explains things perfectly in a way that’s relevant to situations we’ve either been in, or will encounter. And the principles in this video transfer seamlessly across to recording techniques. I’m all set to rework one of my old songs and, while I’ll be paying all the parts myself, I’ll take Eric’s advice fully on board to figuratively speaking step back and listen properly to each part and create space for everything to get a better combined result.
